Breakfast – Shades of Grey in the Morning

Breakfast – Shades of Grey in the Morning

Shades of Grey

When watching a good “chick flick” it seems that there is that inevitable scene where the man whips up a perfect meal after a “late night” and the woman is, of course, melting in his masculine, yet tender hands as he rummages through the kitchen to throw some things together to make a perfect breakfast. The chicks love it. Think about it…what woman wouldn’t want their love interest to be a master of breakfast? A really good breakfast isn’t just for Easter Sunday, or Mother’s day, nor should the family only get a good breakfast when guests are staying over the night.  Men, I need you to listen to me for a second. We beasts, warriors, and providers roll out of bed 5-6 days a week, shower, and get ready to fight the world for our families and usually start our day with a quick bowl of cereal, or more likely, we grab a coffee and pastry at the coffee shop at the base of our building. Somehow we have forgotten the “breakfast of champions” and instead are just lucky to get something in our stomachs before lunch time. Yet, on the day we have a big day of golf planned, or the day we go hunting or fishing, somehow we get enough energy to get up extra early and fix an amazing breakfast.  Eggs, sausage, ham, bacon, pancakes, hash browns in the never-washed cast iron pan, etc.  We squeeze the orange juice, we grind the coffee beans and the whole house is full of the aroma of IHOP and Denny’s all rolled into one. The family wakes up to the smell only to find all of your dishes from the amazing, all American breakfast strewn all over the kitchen. You da man!

Breakfast of Champions?

I remember when I was in college and rented a room from a family in my church. The man of the house would whip up these amazing scones in the AM whenever my buddies and I would crash there so we could play golf that morning. I didn’t even know what a scone was, but became addicted. Even today, the smell of a perfect scone with some fresh raspberry jam conjures up images of me, my buddies and playing golf.  Seriously, a good breakfast doesn’t have to be that elaborate, or even that messy, the breakfast section of 101 Recipes Every Good Boy Should Know is designed with you and your early morning wake up call in mind. Whether you are a ladies man or want to be that husband or father that wants to create a special memory for special days for your family.
