SEATTLE/CAPITOL HILL/BALLARD – Po Dog

Po Dog

I heart wieners.

Ain’t gonna lie, been to Po Dog several times and each time I walk out of their Capitol Hill or Ballard location with a renewed love for wieners. Not sure if I missed it during the other visits, but I was blown away by the out-of-this-world buttery brioche hot dog “canoes.” The term “buns” doesn’t do it justice. A touch of crisp on the outside and an interior of the bun that has the rich buttery flavor of your favorite french toast (without the syrup of course). The brioche bun comes from Macrina Bakery (where I have a crush of owner/baker Leslie Mackey) and enhances the fresh, simple ingredients that aren’t to be missed.

Having tried almost all, personal favorites are the Chicago (peppers, onions, tomato, pickle, and more), the Breakfast (scrambled eggs and thick cut bacon), and the Seattle dogs (cream cheese and scallion). Oh, and my son Jack LOVES the Peanut Butter dog (with extra nuts to boot)!

Po Dog has a dog-of-the-month, daily happy hours and other fun specials. Two locations to help you with your love for wieners, on Capitol Hill (off Union and Broadway), and in Ballard (Market St.).
